Gladiators, Ready!

I am very much a heels girl. I do love how a heel can make you feel; it's empowering, improves your posture and can generally make you feel like a better version of yourself.
However, there are times when a heel just won't work; and in summer this is often more prevalent. Who wants to be trudging around in killer heels when the temperatures are high and the sun is shining, when you're tripping from the bars to the shops to the beach? At times like these, only a flattie will do.

But not any old flat! Gladiator sandals are the creme de la creme of flats; they're not only comfortable and chic but are also a really stylish alternative to a heel. Rubber flip flops are perfect for beach days but, for something higher up the trend radar, a Gladiator perfectly fits the bill. Strappy, intricate and presented in luxe materials, you can't go wrong with a glad. The two pairs above perfectly illustrate this; the snakeskin print pair by Lollipops would lend a luxury edge to any look, whilst the sumptuous leather uppers of the Les Tropeziennes pair add a chic element to an everyday outfit.

Look for extra detail in your gladiator sandals such as metallic straps, as seen in this Regard pair, or an ankle cuff detail to really set yours apart from the high street selection.
Les Tropeziennes
Tan leather is an excellent buy as the colour will work with everything you own, and you'll find yourself wearing them all summer long.

For something a little more edgy, with a glamourous take, look to burnished studs as a great way to do more 'grown up' sparkle.

Or look for extra details to make sure your sandals are the centre of attention; the perfect way to pep up a plain look is to make your footwear extra detailed, the beading and gem detail on this Ash pair is a great example.

Will you be rocking Gladiators this summer? Not only are they a festival must-have, but they'll also look excellent in the city with a pair of skinny cropped trousers for a cool yet chic twist on classic style.

I personally don't like gladiators, I think they're so unflattering.
There are so many other styles of sandals that are more ladylike x
