Alexa wearing her favourite shoes so many ways!
I have had a pair of black converse high tops on my wish list for some time now. Enabling this footwear purchase is, of course, my fave fashionista, the indomitable Alexa Chung, who somehow makes everything she pairs them with look effortlessly cool, not to mention retaining the length of her coltish pins with consumate ease. I think if I ever dared wear a pair of Converse with cropped, kick flare Levi's I'd look like a clown, but The Chung makes it look so super cool. Of course.
With skinny jeans, though, I think I could make them look ok, and possibly even with denim shorts, if it's ever hot enough in the UK to wear said garment. I also love them with her dungarees, they add a real sense of nonchalance to the look and you know they are also super comfortable!
If high tops aren't your thing, you can also get the low top style, which I've worn on the blog before; the white pair I have go with everything and are really easy to wear. They also get better with age, especially if they get a bit dirty and grungy! Alexa writes in her book 'IT' about dirtying up a box fresh pair before you wear them but you can actually buy vintage washed ones that don't look as brand spankers from the off, which is great if that's not your look! I particularly like the washed out grey versions which are probably a little more summery than black but definitely don't look as bright as the white ones!
I am definitely going to treat myself to a pair of high tops this season as I think they have also been given the green light as a 'core piece' in the French woman's capsule wardrobe, which makes me adore them all the more!
