On Tuesday of last week I was lucky enough to attend the Harvey Nichols 'Beauty School Drop Out' event in their Bristol store. I love Harvey Nichols; sure, it's not the sort of place you'd expect to find a bargain, but the store is beautifully laid out and carefully merchandised to protect the luxury atmosphere you would expect from a premier shopping destination.

The Beauty School Drop Out event was a ticketed occasion; but I was invited to attend as a blogger which meant I could take advantage of all the goings on! Tickets, which cost £10, could be redeemed against a purchase on the evening, and many of the beauty counters were offering tips and tricks on making the most of your makeup, or tutorials on the latest trends; such as the one pictured above covering 'spring lip trends' by Tom Ford.

The event was, understandably, school-themed, and to that end there were tuck shop sweets to enjoy; playground games and prizes to win. On a game of 'spin the lipstick' I won some moisturiser which was lovely! I attended the event with my friend and fellow blogger Dulcie and we spent ages wandering around the store taking in the different products and sampling the varying goodies. We posed for a photo using different school-themed props and we were also lucky enough to be illustrated by some fashion students, pictures of which I included in my Instagram post here.

On arrival, I took my glass of Prosecco and headed over to the Benefit counter to pick their brains about something I can never master: contouring. The make up artist was really helpful and talked me through the importance of highlighting and blending, and I've since had better success at home when I've tried to recreate the look. It was such a luxury to be able to visit all the different counters and speak to the people who know their brands and products the best, without feeling like I was in the way of anyone or that anyone was waiting, which you do sometimes get with the higher end counters during busy daytimes.

After a fun few hours it was time to go home, not before being given a tour of the glorious treatment rooms on the beauty floor which I didn't even realise existed! I had a really lovely time at the store and I hope to go back again soon!
