Small Studs

Betty London boots via Spartoo

I've been a fan of Betty London for some time, and you'll see from my previous post here I already have one pair of shoes from this brand in my collection. I seem to be constantly on the search for the perfect black ankle boot; and I'm actually yet to find it, though these offerings from Betty London may well fill the requirement!

I don't really go for the "studded" look that seems to be so prevalent right now, eschewing it for a cleaner, simpler line is definitely more to my taste. Nevertheless, a small scattering of pin studs can definitely add a certain something to the look of a shoe or boot; without the aggression and "statement" designs of a shoe full of hardware. The sweet domed studs on the toecap of this pair of boots makes them unique enough to separate them from your typical plain chelsea or riding boots but still adds enough of a twist to ensure that they will complement, rather than overshadow, the rest of your outfit.

"Gothic" is a perennial AW trend that shows no signs of abating this season, but the Goth of AW12 has chosen a less obvious path. Black, leather, studs and lace are still all key components in creating a look for this trend but to channel it in a softer way requires effort and elegance. Teaming boots like these with a coated skinny and a silk shirt, with the addition of a boucle jacket, will ensure that you're set for the season ahead without looking as if you're in costume.

A soft black leather ankle boot is the sort of classic investment that will get better with time, age and wear. This pair are definitely high on my wish list-I can see myself wearing them with so many of the outfits I already own and they look supremely comfortable too!
