The Way I Intended

wearing: Gap sweater and hat, vintage leather skirt, Pastelle ballet flats, No.7 nail polish in Stand Back!

My concession to Jubilee dressing this weekend has been, I'm afraid, a rather lame blue nail, courtesy of a Boots voucher, I picked up a cyan blue shade from No.7 for just £2. I don't wear much blue and I certainly don't wear red (apart from lips/nails) so I was never going to be rocking a union jack look....call me boring but I love my neutral colours and my fave thing is to get a bit of a texture clash going on in an outfit. If I have to add a bit of colour in, it's usually on an accessory or via makeup; i.e lips or nails. So I thought I'd steer away from my usual nail varnish choices (bright red/burgundy/mushroom/grey) and pick something a little different!

This skirt was one I bought from Urban Outfitters at the start of the year and I always had the intention to wear it with bare legs, so with the weather cooling off slightly but still remaining transitional, I knew it would be a good opportunity to try it without tights. I last wore it with tights and boots and to be honest, I wasn't convinced; but with a ballet flat and a bare leg, not to mention a slouchy knit, I have absolutely fallen for it again. I will definitely be wearing it like this more often. It's mid-waisted but it's actually a little bit big for me so it sits round my hips, which is why I've worn it with a knit over the top and not tucked in, as I don't think it would look right tucked in-it's not as well fitting as my APC skirt. But I like this and I think it works! Also I think by teaming it with a knit and a ballet pump there's no risk of the "Miss Whiplash" connotation that can sometimes occur with leather pieces!

Right, I've been saying it all week but I am actually now going to catch up on my blog roll and see what you've all been up too. I love days off!

Hope you have a lovely Jubilee weekend, whatever you get up to!
