After evenings out partying and making merry, there is sometimes nothing nicer than pulling on your comfiest garb for an enjoyable day of chilled out relaxing. However, it's good to know that 'casual' needn't be code for 'tracksuit'-over at USC they have every angle covered, from fab partywear (see here) to pretty pieces that are as cute as they are comfy. No Onesies or trackies here!
The above jacket by Abandon is a case in point. Warm and snuggly, it's like wearing a giant sleeping bag-yet much more trendy! Called the Alexa, it channels Miss Chung's style beautifully, and costs just £35.
Whilst sharking the site for casual, comfy pieces, I happened across this gorgeous blouse by Angel Eye, £25. I adore the pretty print and the shape is key for AW2010/11-soft, silky blouses are everywhere. This one would look great with slim jeans, boots and a fluffy knit cardi for a simple and chic look that is just effortless. And perfect for either stomping the high street for those last minute pressies, or going out for a pre-Christmas Sunday lunch. It costs £25 and is also available in cream (see below)-I couldn't pick between the colours and would have to get both!
How cute are these little numbers? I love a flat boot, and these are a smarter take on the shape. A Victorian-Hiking-Granny hybrid, these are just begging for a knit dress or a pair of skinnies to show them off to their full potential. And the best part? A bit of a respite from the high heels we've been spending our evenings in!
Bronx Herald Boot, £70
Here is the Angel Eye blouse in the other colourway-see what I mean? How on earth do you choose between them?!
Now, casualwear doesn't have to mean jeans and a cardi. For a more glamourous take on a casual look, how about pairing this fabulous Beatrix skirt, £45 from Firetrap with a pair of tights and brogues or ankle boots? Add a cable knit in a neutral shade and you're good to go! The print of the skirt makes it less 'evening' and the shape makes it daywear appropriate.
Faux fur is a MUST have for casual wear-not only is it super strokeable and cosy, it's also one of the biggest trends going and this feathery gilet is the perfect investment. Wear it now with skinny pants and a thick knit, and keep wearing it through to the spring over your trusty denim jacket and day dresses. It's a multitasker! It costs just £36 from Parisien.
As regular readers of my blog will know, I absolutely LOVE a harem trouser. I have so many pairs and am always on the lookout for the next, I love the fit and the shape of them. My eyes nearly came out on stalks when I spotted this pair from Ruby Rocks (£35)-the print is out of this world! They would look fab with a little pair of ankle boots and a v neck knit for the most comfy-cool outfit you'll ever wear!
Combat trousers have also made a reappearance this winter, but gone are the 90's connotations. This time around, they are slim and fitted with only a scattering of pockets-like this pair from Vero Moda. Coming in at £38 they will be a key trouser shape right through into spring and can be dressed up or down. These soft cotton combats are a smarter and comfier alternative to the skinny jean and a must try for anyone looking for a trouser with a point of difference. Gorgeous!
Finally, I've come to the holy grail of comfortable footwear-the Ugg. These boots always divide opinion, but they can't be faulted as the warmest, snuggliest boots on the market. I have picked this pair as my favourite of the bunch this year, I absolutely love the curly sheepskin detail. They're adorable and can be worn with everything from skinny jeans to skirts and knitted dresses. A definite investment, but a worthy one!
