Review: Fenty Beauty

Killawatt highlighter duo here and Shimmer Skinstick here by Fenty Beauty by Rihanna c/o Harvey Nichols

Fenty Beauty launched way back in September but I have been waiting to share my review of a couple of products because there was so much talk around it around the launch that I wanted to wait for the hype to calm down. I have been really interested in the range itself, though - I was so impressed with the way that Rihanna has thrown herself into the development and creation of this line. I think a lot of celebrity launches - whether fashion, beauty or lifestyle - can be little more than a famous person wanting to add to their property portfolio with a cash win by putting their name against something, but Fenty Beauty is different. Rihanna uses the products and was instrumental in developing them. This range has 40 shades of foundation, for starters - rather than the standard 5-15 offered by most brands (in my experience) and I love that she caters for every skin tone. I struggle to find foundation that is my shade, as usually even the paler colours on offer are too orange for me, or too white-based which makes them look like stage makeup, so I look forward to looking into the range more closely.

100% cruelty free, Fenty Beauty offers 'makeup to have fun with' whilst buildable formulas mean you can layer products to your liking and create a look that's all your own. I was kindly gifted the 'Killawatt' highlighter duo in 'Girl Next Door / Chic Phreak'  and the Shimmer Skinstick in 'Chilli Mango' and both of these products are multi use and also totally user friendly. The highlighter duo can be used traditionally, to highlight the cheekbones and cupids bow, or on the eyes as a shimmer shadow. The consistency of the product is creamy but not cakey, and the colour payoff is fantastic - the highlight really zings when applied.

The Shimmer Skinstick came in the shade 'Chilli Mango' (it is available in 30 shades) and when I opened this the punchy orange colour was so vibrant I did wonder how I would wear it! However, the colour can be built up gently, so you can wear it as a blusher or on the lips as a gorgeous coral lip sheen. I love the fine golden glitter in the stick which gives the brightness of the colour a deeper dimension and the product dries to a creamy finish which won't budge. You only need a small amount, too, so the stick lasts ages and it's so easy to put in your bag for touch ups on the go.

I have loved these two products from the Fenty Beauty range, and I can't wait to try out more of the collection.
