The Casual Wear Edit

Topshop jeans (similar here and here) vintage jumper (similar here)

As I talked about denim for smarter occasions yesterday, I thought it would be nice to take a view of the casual side in today's post. I always used to think that simply jeans and a jumper was the most plain and boring outfit, and I'd always try to think of a way to make it a little more interesting. However, as I've got older I realised that I don't need loads of jewellery or fancy accessories to dress up a plain look; and sometimes, simple is better.

I have a few vintage sweatshirts and this is one of the newer ones. Adrian got me this one and I love it, it's the perfect oversized novelty jumper and the carpet cat is the perfect foil to a plain grey top. For a lazy day I would wear it with my grey straight leg jeans and some slip on mules or loafers; I like to keep my footwear a little smarter if I'm doing a super casj look so as not to appear too scruffy. Likewise, the indigo jeans are cropped flares so would look cool with the jumper half tucked in and some ballet pumps or ankle boots (it's still a bit cold for ballerinas!)

I picked up both of these pairs of jeans in the sale. I hadn't bought jeans for ages and I was getting good wear out of my ASOS girlfriend jeans but as both styles have rips in the legs, I was hoping to find a couple of pairs that were a little smarter (and kept my knees warm!) Both pairs are a nice thick denim; I really prefer this to the thin, stretchy type and so far I've only worn the grey pair (outfit post to come) but I really love the fit and the colour, something a little different than I already have.
