The September Edit

Topshop boots (similar here) Paisie dress (similar here)

I worked with a capsule wardrobe for a year, and it was a project that helped bring an awful lot of clarity to my wardrobe, and my shopping habits in particular. I have detailed my findings at the end of the project in this post, and going forward I'm going to be posting (in the style of a 'favourites' post) the newness that I have brought to my wardrobe each month. I am still following some of the principles I learned from capsuling; namely, buying better and in a more considered way. Whilst I still shop the sales and scout the chazzas for bargains, I am much better now at buying 'in season,' choosing pieces to complement my wardrobe rather than becoming a victim of fashion excess.

I only bought a couple of items in September and these were paid for with my birthday money. I seem to buy a new pair of ankle boots every year, but again, as I get older, I am more discerning with the styles I invest in. This Topshop pair weren't cheap at £80, but I have worn them considerably this season so far and they are incredibly comfortable and versatile. I think this colourway has sold out but they have the same style in stock here, just with a different heel.

The second item I picked up I just adore but sadly had little opportunity to wear it as it's rather summery (I promise I am much better at sticking to products in-season going forward!) This dress is by a cool brand called Paisie which you can find on ASOS. I loved the colour of it and the slouchy style; I wore it to work a couple of times with heels and would also wear it with loafers but it demands a bare leg which it's now got a little cold for. It would also be nice for a night out, I think. The cut and design is just lovely and I know that this is a piece I will keep and wear again and again; I really bought it with work in mind and it's ideal for that. It was in the sale so I think it's now sold out but this one is similar.
