There's something about a pair of simple sandals that make the perfect fashionable and functional shoedrobe must-have. I have a pair similar to these pictured, and the joy of them is that they just don't date-I must have bought them around 4 years ago, from a charity shop, and they are still as comfy, relevant and easy to outfit now as then.
Leather sandals are a really good investment because they are usually softer and more forgiving than their synthetic counterparts, especially when worn during hot weather. With denim shorts or a simple silk shift, a pair of elegant flat sandals can lend smartness or edge. I tried to get on the Birkenstock bandwagon but after accepting that they just don't fit my feet properly I have reverted back to my favoured vintage leather sandals and I find them much easier to wear.
