Considering the Summer Capsule

summer capsule key pieces

Well, since I was talking about all things capsule wardrobe in my last post, I thought it would be good to look ahead to the summer capsule and consider the purchases I want to make. They won't necessarily come from this mood board; as I've previously mentioned I am looking to try and shop mainly second hand, thrifted and chazza style than buying new, but it's good to have a starting point and ideas in mind when I am checking out Depop and eBay or rootin' through the local chazzas.

I am on the lookout for what I would call tee shirts with a twist-literally in the case of this Topshop Boutique number but what I actually mean are soft tee shirts with added details-like a twist front or a frill (this ASOS one is cool) which I could wear to work with trousers or skirts, or at the weekend with my Levis. I love to wear a grey marl tee with a leather pencil skirt, for example, I think that looks super chic, and also office appropriate.

Something I am missing in my summer wardrobe is the perfect fitting pair of shorts. This denim pair are from Topshop and they are the girlfriend style, which means they are high on the waist but not cutting up your bum like so many high street shorts seem to do! The bum-cheek hanging out look is definitely not my aesthetic so I like that this style is cut longer on the leg. The dream would be to find a pair of perfectly fitting jeans in the chazza that I could cut down, but that's the one thing I can never seem to turn up!

Jumpsuits are something I wear constantly, I have a couple of Topshop Boutique ones that I wore continually through the winter as they are comfortable, smart and chic. I am really keen to get one suitable for summer, though, as both the Toppers ones are wool, so not really the best thing to wear on a warm day! Thankfully, Topshop Boutique have made a summer version with an off the shoulder detail, and this might be my splurge item. It's £80, so not cheap, but I know how much I will wear it, so it would probably be a good buy!

As for accessories, I've showcased Whistles here because their accessories are so on point! I adore this cute camera style bag-perfect for sightseeing on holiday thanks to the long strap and zip top-and how amazing are these sandals? I can but dream as they are way beyond budget but if I won the lottery I would buy them immediately. They are so pretty-I love the fact that the clompy sandal trend is giving way to something a little more feminine, as those really thick, heavy shoes look ridiculous on me. I also really like this ASOS pair if you are looking for something a little less expensive.

What have you got your eye on for summer?
