Topshop Denim: Style Comparison

Photos taken with this lens. Jeans from Topshop similar here, here and here

I had wanted to take the opportunity to try out my Urban Outfitters phone camera lens in more detail and I've also been hooking up my denim wardrobe recently so I thought it would be fun to collab the two and write up my thoughts on some of my fave Topshop denim cuts. I should prefix this post by saying that all these styles were bought in the sale so I'm not sure whether the actual colours and washes are still available, but the styles are, I believe, ones that TS carry year round so you should still be able to pick them up!

The first pair are the Binx jeans that I already have (and love) in black. This pair is an inky blue, with a slightly greenish cast, basically not a true denim shade but something slightly darker. I picked these up on a whim in Toppers as they had been reduced to £20 and I loved the fit of the pair I own already, so I thought I'd invest. Highish on the waist, they have a raw hem at the ankle making them a relaxed summer style to wear with sandals and blouses. I always go for a 32 leg in this style (despite being a 30 usually) as they are an ankle grazer style and so are already cut cropped, and I like them to fit slightly longer.

I picked up another pair of ecru jeans (I have a real affinity for this shade in the summer time!) and these are in the Hayden boyfriend cut. I like the look of boyfriend jeans with ballet pumps and a sweater for real easy dressing and since I don't have any boyfriend jeans in this colour, for £15 I thought they would be a good investment. Again I chose the longer leg length as they look nice rolled up, and the longer length allows this without the hems looking too bunchy. They have rips in the knees which I'm not overly keen on but I can get past this! I'm looking forward to wearing these with a slouchy tee and sandals in the sun.

Finally I also snapped up the Baxter jeans, which is a classic style Topshop have done for years. I had a pair of grey Baxters back in the day, which were the skinniest jeans I owned; I expect now the fit would be more akin to that of these Baxters than the Joni or Jamie styles that are practically spray on. I'm not so into those, I prefer the denim to be a little thicker and these Baxters are lovely; slim, but not super skinny. Again, they come up short in the leg, which I read on the website 'review' section (always handy when online shopping!) so I opted for the 32 leg which actually fits and measures more like a 30. I think Topshop jeans are a bit hit and miss in the length sometimes; I've bought 32 legs that fit perfectly and hit where I want them too, and I've also bought 30's in some styles that have been too long! It's well worth trying a few sizes, too, especially if you're unsure, to find out which ones suit you the best.

Along with my favourite Southern Ocean crops from White Stuff and my ASOS denim selection, I think I'm quite well off for jeans now! Perhaps it's not wearing them everyday any more (unlike when I used to work for The Gap) that means I automatically reach for them on my days off!

What's your favourite TS jean style?
