Charity Shopping with CCC: Westbury on Trym Bridal

St Peter's Hospice, Westbury on Trym, Bristol

As regular readers will know, I am a huge fan of charity shops. I often spend my day off rooting through the wares in my local shops and my favourite charity shops are the network of St Peters Hospice branches that are found across Bristol, from as far afield as Yate to Yatton, they are the largest charity retailer in the area with 47 shops across the city.

St Peter's Hospice is a Bristol charity that cares for adults with life-limiting illnesses, ensuring that they have the best quality of life at every step. The cost of running the Hospice comes in at a staggering £18,000 a day, and through fundraising and, of course, the charity shops, they can continue to offer these vital support services.

I visited the Westbury on Trym branch of St Peter's Hospice today as I had been invited to come and have a look at their new bridal department. It's been open for just over 3 weeks and is set in its own space above the main shop. The team at Westbury have worked tirelessly to put together an exciting and vibrant space to show off the fabulous collection of bridal wear that has been donated to the store, and they also have room for formal and prom wear outfits too! The items are all excellent quality, and what's more, they are all really reasonably priced. My friend Claire, who is the Assistant Manager of the branch, showed me this amazing vintage dress with a simple lace design on the front, priced at just £75, (If I was getting married I would definitely snap it up!) and there were many other styles with prices to suit every budget.

Buying a wedding dress is a big investment for many women and with the costs of weddings ever increasing, offers like this from the charity sector are very well received. Alongside the dresses available, there are also shoes, bags and jewellery, a section for the chaps, and plenty of bridesmaid-suitable dresses, too; even pieces for the mother of the bride. It's a beautifully merchandised destination with a sumptuous fitting room and plenty of space to twirl around in!

If you aren't local to Bristol, you can still shop some of the top picks from across the network of shops via their eBay store here. If you are more local, you should definitely pay the Westbury on Trym store a visit, chat with the lovely team, and if you are getting married, have a look at the incredible bridal department! You can also read a bit more about who St Peter's Hospice are and what they do via their website here which also features a full store listing so you can find out if there are any stores near to you.
