Mineral makeup with Younique

Mineral Pigments c/o Younique

I'm sure that you'll have heard of the cult beauty brand Younique already; they created one of the most talked about mascaras of 2014 (the Moodstruck Fibre Lash) and the company means to continue it's successes right on into 2015 and beyond.

One product surely destined to achieve cult status this year are these beautiful mineral eye pigments. Mineral makeup is fast becoming the go-to for many women who are conscious of what they are putting on their face and especially their eyes. The Younique brands' goal is to provide 'healthy, clean and pure cosmetics.' This mineral pigment shadow is derived from finely crushed minerals, amino acids, and vitamins, ensuring your skin will feel as good as it looks!

I was kindly sent some samples to review and they are just as lovely as I hoped they would be. The mineral shadows come in a huge range of shades and colours, and I received a selection of shimmer and matte colours. The product comes as a loose mineral powder which you can apply with a brush. These can be applied dry for a wash or colour, or mixed with water for a more intense metallic effect.

The colours that I received were 'Sexy' which is a shimmer in a peachy tapue shade, 'Confident' a beautiful bronze shimmer, 'Curious' a warm cream shimmer, 'Angelic' a bold gold shimmer, 'Flirty' a pale lavender shimmer, and 'Irresistible' a rich chocolate matte. These colours work well alone or worn together. I've applied 'Confident' as a wash across the eyelid; this was my favourite shade as you might have guessed after the 'Forever Repurchased' post here, I do love a bronze eyeshadow! The shades are all gorgeous and I would use the lighter shades (Curious/Angelic) as highlights, whilst the matte shade 'Irresistible' would make a great crease colour.

The formulation of the shadows are just dreamy; incredibly soft and blend out like a dream, meaning you can easily build colour intensity for evening or leave a gently washed out shade across the entire lid for day. To really amp up the colour payoff, using the pigments wet makes for a liquid metal effect across the eyelid which is quite stunning.

I was really impressed with the way that the shadows set fast and didn't crease, which is always a concern I have with eyeshadows as it's such a common issue for so many women. I applied the shadows without an eyelid primer and they didn't crease at all, I put them through their paces with an 8 hour working day but I didn't have to reapply at all. I also found that there was no fallout; often with powdery pigmented shadows you will find that the shadow drifts downs on to the tops of your cheeks or smudges out but there was no chance of this here; they stayed exactly where they ought to be!

Younique is a rapidly developing company and there are opportunities to get involved with the brand, you can host virtual parties, view other members looks and upload your own! If you would like to know more, you can pose any questions to my contact at Younique, Eleanor. Visit her page here.
