ASOS January Sale Picks

ASOS sale picks

I thought it would be fun to do a little series of posts over the next couple of weeks or so, highlighting my picks from the January sales. I am going to share my choices from several of my fave high street shopping haunts and whilst I'm going to attempt not to buy everything, I can't make any promises!

First up; ASOS. ASOS is one of my favourite websites, that 'saved for later' list is simultaneously the best and worst thing ever! I am always keeping lists of pieces I am loving and then as soon as they go into the sale, they end up in my bag! I love the range of brands on the site and I also really rate ASOS's own label.

I've picked pieces that I think are really good investments; they aren't particularly wintery or trend led which I like; it's the sort of shopper I am to look for quirkly pieces that I love as opposed to the latest must have. Additionally you'll get more for your money this way; as the buys you invest in now will carry you through the year.

First up: a hat. As I noted in my 'Outfits of the Year' post, a hat was my mainstay accessory of 2013 and as if I would be giving them up in 2014. This ochre rolled brim hat is now £8 in the sale and is a great colour as well as being a cute shape, it's more a boater than a bowler so I think it's worth picking up as I have a bowler I've worn a lot so it would be good to switch it up!

Onto a non-ASOS brand now, the only one in the selection I've picked! This sailor dress by The Whitepepper is so cute. I love the oversized, slouchy shape; I've never been one for bodycon dresses, I'm definitely more of the Alexa Chung, haute-hippy type baggy sacky school of dress and this one is basically a dream for me; it's navy blue (my fave), has arms (I'm always cold so these are essential) and it has the loveliest sailor collar. It's currently £33 reduced from £55 which isn't the best reduction but I think these dresses tend to sell out at full price so it's good that it is still available with any sort of discount at all!

I don't know what it is with me and brogues, but I can't bare to pass a decent derby up! I spotted these little leather numbers which are just £24.50 now down from £35. I love a decent leather shoe because they are always so comfortable and you can just wear and wear them. I think these will look lovely with skinny jeans or dresses and I love the simple shape. I do already have a pair of brogues but they are studded and tooled so these will be a nice pair to wear with busier outfits, to ground the look. They also come in white which I didn't buy because I've already got a similar white pair!

Everyone knows I love a quirky accessory or two, so when I spotted this crocodile cocktail ring I had to add it to my basket. It's huge, I love how garish and gaudy it is, perfect for wearing with no other jewellery at all, just the ring on its own as a real statement. I know this won't appeal to everyone but for £6 instead of £15 I think it's a good bargain!

Finally, the sales are a perfect opportunity to grab a new handbag, and this ASOS leather one is no exception. This would work all year round, is sizeable enough for everyday, and is real leather so will get better with age and use. It's £52.50 reduced from £75 which I think is a fair price to pay for a leather bag, and if I needed a new handbag (which I don't!) I would be buying this one!

What do you think of my ASOS sale picks? Have you bought anything in their sale yet?
