Olhao the City: An Overview

This was originally going to be one big last post about my holiday but there were so many pictures that when I was editing I really struggled with what to leave out. There will be one more holiday post to come and then that's it for my holiday snaps, promise!

These pictures are mostly ones that Adrian took but I had to share them as the images are so stunning and the weather was absolutely beautiful, particularly over the last few days we were there. We liked to take long walks in the morning and evening, especially along the harbour and around the historic fish market. There were lots of birds, of course seagulls because of the harbour but also storks and finches too, as well as thousands of swallows mid way through their migration. We saw them swooping over the waters edge with incredible dexterity to catch insects and we watched them for hours.

The buildings were also really stunning and I loved the olde worlde feel of the city and the sun drenched alleyways weaving between the settlements. It was like being in a different time, the pace of life was a lot slower and there was a lovely calm atmosphere that radiated through the streets. I loved it and I didn't want to come home!
