Sales Savvy

A bit of a different post on the blog today! I often find myself watching other blogger's "haul posts" on YouTube, which I find a rather funny sort of concept really...Without trying to seem all "look what I've got" these posts are essentially just that, but far from feeling envious of the blogger I am actually always really interested in what they've bought, how much it cost, where it came from, and so on. I'll put this down to a couple of things: 1) I am incredibly nosy so being allowed to have a peek in someones shopping bag is right up my street, and 2) it's a really good way of being able to see what's about on the high street or to get some ideas for up and coming seasons especially if you're lacking in inspiration a little bit. With this in mind (and the fact that I am highly unlikely to ever post a video on my blog) I thought I would show you a little haul of a few things that I've picked up over the last few weeks, ironically with the tagline of savings in mind. It can't have escaped your attention that the winter sales are quietly being eked out and whilst there's not a whole lot left to buy, this is the time that you'll get the best bargains, if you're lucky and a little clever!

So, what have I found? As you'll remember from this previous post here, I had a rather good run on charity shop purchases a few weeks ago, and this Topshop cat vest was something I picked up with summer in mind. At £2.99 it was a total bargain and I think it's so cute, it reminds me of Zoe Karssen in the style of the print and I know I will wear it a lot in the warmer months!

Picking through the sale rails in H&M (somewhere I don't usually shop) was made easier by the fact that I had been given two £5 off vouchers by my mum, she got them when making a purchase or two before Christmas and hadn't used them so she gave them to me to use before they expired. There was no minimum spend so I was tempted to find two £5 items, which would then essentially be free! I had a real good look through the leftovers but couldn't really find anything I liked enough, even if it would have been a freebie, I wanted to get something I would like to wear! As luck would have it I found a gorgeous shell pink, embellished dress, with a hi-lo hem and beaded v-back, reduced from £29.99 to £10. I whipped out my voucher (which amazingly, could be used on sale items!) and scored it for £5! Bargain of the day if you ask me! I also managed to use up my other voucher on the little mouse (?) face jumper which also only cost £10 so was £5 after discount.

The next things I found in H&M came courtesy of the Maison Martin Margiela collaboration which I completely missed when it hit in the stores mainly because it didn't come to a store near me! I had wanted to get my hands on a couple of the pieces but even after scouring eBay for the things I wanted I realised I would have to pay over the odds for them. So imagine my surprise when, flicking through the H&M online sale, I spied a couple of items that looked familiar.....items from the Margiela collaboration! And on sale! I snapped up quite a few different things which I ended up returning, because a lot of the product is seriously high fashion and just looked a little odd on me! but I kept this incredible folded base tote (£99.99 £45) and this hair lock necklace (£7.99 £4) I think a leather tote is a really good investment purchase because its something that can always be used with any outfit and it always remains in style. And at half price, I was really happy with it!

Finally, the Topshop sale didn't throw up too many gems for me this time, though I did manage to get this lovely boucle coat which I'm sure you'll have already seen me wear in an outfit post. I had wanted it from way back in November when I saw it in store but priced at £79 I couldn't afford it. However when it was reduced to £30, and I had £20 Christmas money, I couldn't wait to make it my spring cover up! I also picked up this cute collar which was reduced from £16 to £3!

So, those are my bargainous picks of the sales! I think that it's really useful to see where you can make savings through the year by picking up items that have longevity and will be able to carry you through a couple of seasons, all at a reduced price! This means you won't have to splurge on new items every time styles change, as you can adapt pieces that you already own to create a new look.

What have you been buying in the sales? What do you think of this haul?

I love your H&M bargains (they really were bargains weren't they!), but my absolute favourite pick of your sale items is definitely the boucle coat from Topshop - it is literally perfect :) hope you enjoy your weekend lovely xx
