Rimmel London Glam'Eyes Palette Review

The lovely folks at Rimmel London recently sent me over this Glam'Eyes eye shadow quad to try. I absolutely love bright eye colours but I am very cautious when it comes to applying them-I love the catwalk looks but I always wonder if they can ever actually work for me in everyday life? I'd like to think they can, but then I get scared that I look like an extra from Dallas and always tone it down!

The pallette itself is nice and compact; perfect for your handbag. It comes with an applicator sponge and, on the back of the compact is a detailed drawing suggesting ways to wear the different colours inside; ideal for a colour wimp like me. There are a couple of ways suggested; a 'subtle look' using 3 of the shades, or the 'London look' which uses all 4.

These are swatches of the colours, the pallete is No. 021 'State of Grace'. From bottom to top, the colours are: a sparkly purple (very rich and pigmented for a deep colour) a bright blue, a lighter sparkly blue, and a solid silver. All the colurs are really lovely and can be applied lightly to give a subtle wash of colour or layered up for a more intense look.

I am wearing almost entirely Rimmel Makeup here: 25 hour foundation, Stay Matte powder, Glam'eyes eyeshadow, Flash liquid Eyeliner and Max Bold Curves mascara. I used a pale pink lipgloss as well, I would normally wear lipstick but with such a strong eye look I thought it would be best to keep the rest of my look more day-appropriate and fresh.

You can see here how I have used the lighter blue shade all over the lid of my eye, and the dark purple in the crease to give definition. For a night out I would have probably used more of the purple to create a more punchy smoky eye look and also the silver as a highlighter on the brow bone and inside corner of the eye.
It's so different from my usual makeup looks but I am quite pleased with it! Rimmel say about the product: 'The soft silken powder formula glides on smoothly and blends effortlessly, flawlessly reproducing the intense saturated colour' -this is true, I know it sounds a bit of a cliche but the colours really do come out looking as they do in the pallette which is fairly unusual, I find, in eyeshadows. Rimmel go on to say that 'your perfect shade will last as long as you do, neither creasing nor fading, making it the perfect long wear eyeshadow with which to experiment a rainbow of colours.' Again, I was dubious about this; how many times have I found a gorgeous eyeshadow that I loved, but then had to keep touching up? I work in a busy retail environment and usually it is a nightmare for make up to stay on my face as the day goes on, usually it ends up halfway down it! Not today; I was SO impressed that by the end of my shift, the eyeshadow looked as fresh as when I had applied it, with no creasing or flaking. I love it, and shall continue to use it, I definitely recommend it!
