Sandal Alternatives

Finding summer shoes that aren't sandals can be tricky. Maybe your workplace doesn't allow strappy sandals or they irritate your feet, whatever the reason, it can be necessary to have a few sandal alternatives in your shoedrobe. I tend to opt for simple flat leather sandals or slider styles, but I also have a couple of summer worthy shoes I reach for when strappies just aren't cutting it.

Cut out boots are a great summer shoe alternative and, like sandals, they really are for summer only. Despite their boot/shoe hybrid status, the cut outs, be they peep toe, open heel or cut out sides, dictate that they can really only be worn during warmer climes (i.e - don't add socks) and they can instantly smarten up a dressier outfit.

Summer sneakers are a must have and a lightweight Converse or low top Vans brings the cool. Wear with cut off denims for a festival vibe or team with pretty summer dresses to edge a girlie look up. These are also a must have for rainy summer days (pretty consto in the UK) and if you choose a neutral colour, they will work with anything and everything whilst also remaining timeless.

Loafers and slip ons also make for great summer shoe options because, lets face it, who wants to wear a slip on when it's cold? They really demand a bare foot, so are best left for the summer months. These are perfect if you have to wear a closed toe for work; they still look chic and are incredibly comfortable and cool without showing off your trotters!
