Alternative party looks with New Look

Jumpsuit, jacket, shoes and bag all c/o New Look

I love getting dressed up for a glamorous occasion - whether that's a night out, a Christmas party or a fancy meal! As regular readers of my blog will know, I'm not that crazy on dresses - I have a couple of nice vintage ones which could be glammed up but I'm much more comfortable in trousers - however, it can be tricky to make them look party-apropes.

Luckily, New Look have come to the rescue with their amazing partywear range which includes several of my favourite items for easy dressing - the jumpsuit. A smart jumpsuit is just as statement making as a dress, and the glam factor can be turned up a level for dressier occasions.

I love to mix prints and fabrics in my looks, so I love the crepe texture of this jumpsuit, which has a wrap front detail and tie waist. It is really simple and would look amazing worn as it is with a necklace and some barely-there strappy sandals. The sleeveless style and deep v neck make it perfect for evening, and it makes the perfect base to accessorise.

Bomber jackets are showing no signs of slowing down and are still a key trend for the festive season, but for a point of difference, move away from the sporty fabrics and go faster stripes and pick a style with a luxury finish. This jacquard floral print bomber is black, but looks almost navy in the light, and the metallic threads used to create the design give off a subtle gold sheen. New Look also have a huge selection of velvet bombers for that extra touch of luxury.

A handbag is an easy way to add texture to your look, especially if you don't want to do multiple fabrics head to toe. This quilted velvet box bag with a golden tassel is simple and chic, and works beautifully with the tones of the jacket. It's also a practical size - you can fit more into this than a lippy and a credit card, which is useful if you were planning on taking any secret Santa gifts out and about with you!

Finally, a statement shoe is the perfect thing to add a touch of festivity to any look. Metallics are a key trend and these gold shoes have everything that's needed to dance the night away - high shine and block heel making them comfy as well as cool! You'll be able to re-wear them for a New Year's Eve party and even in January too - slip on some glittery socks and work the trend with denim for daytime.
