Charity Shop Find of the Week #31

Vintage skirt £10.99 Oxfam (similar here)

With Granny chic tipped to be one of the key trends for AW16, I definitely had a pleated midi skirt in mind as a must-buy for the new season. I had seen a few on the high street but I certainly thought that I would be able to find something of a similar ilk in the charity shops; it's the sort of thing that is usually an easy spot, alongside unflattering polyester trousers and sensible shoes, so I decided to hold out.

I was pleased that I did, as I ended up finding this grey pleated beauty. I don't wear much colour, so the hints of red in this skirt is a pleasant change from my usual muted colours, and the high waist and knifepleats are the perfect nod to the geriatric trend! To keep the look more contemporary, I wore the skirt with a silk vest top tucked in and flatform espadrilles. For winter, I'll wear it with a thick jumper, tights and patent ankle boots.

The skirt was £10.99 which is pretty much the top end of my chazza prices. I don't really like to pay more than £5 for most items, unless it's something I adore, and I actually tried this on in the shop (something I never do) to make sure it was the right fit. Once I tried it, it cemented the fact that I had to have it, despite the price; it fitted beautifully and was a lovely length. And I suppose £11 isn't too bad for a statement skirt of the season!
