London Retro by Glasses Direct

Having to wear glasses is one of those things that you either love or hate, but whatever your feeling about them, if you need them, there's no getting around it. I have a slight prescription for short sightedness, it's not so bad that I need to wear glasses all the time but if I am reading, watching TV or on the computer, I find that I am squinting without my specs which gives me a headache. So, despite the fact that having glasses is a bit annoying sometimes and remembering to take them with me to work is a bit of a faff, it definitely beats getting a squint-induced brain pain!

When I was contacted by Glasses Direct to review a pair of their new 'London Retro' frames, I jumped at the chance. That's the other thing about having just one pair of glasses; you can get pretty tired of them, pretty quickly. I picked this 'Keaton' pair, which are just about the coolest glasses I've ever seen (and I thought my 'Alexa' pair from Specsavers had that accolade!)

Now, this pair definitely have an olde Hollywood feel to them, and that's just what the London Retro collection of designer glasses is all about. A snapshot of glasses styles through the years, bringing the contemporary and the classic together with the use of incredibly high quality materials and skilled craftsmanship. There are over 20 different frame shapes to choose from and they can also be ordered as sunglasses if glasses for daytime aren't needed.

What I loved about this Keaton pair was the styling and the extra details; the Italian acetate and the steel bridge and brow really set them apart from your average pair of specs. In addition, they are super lightweight, feel incredibly comfortable to wear and fit my face perfectly thanks to the steel hinge technology which ensures a secure fit. They are a dark brown colour but are also available in black should you prefer. In perfect homage to their namesake, Buster Keaton, these frames will help you to stand out in a crowd!

If you are hesitant about buying glasses online, Glasses Direct offer a virtual try-on on site, where you can test out the look of different frames via your webcam. At the end of the trial, you simply place your order online and return the glasses free of charge! Glasses Direct keep you informed every step of your order, informing you when your lenses have been fitted and when your glasses are on the way to you. They also come in a very smart case!
