It's that time of year again when we are all thinking about the upcoming party season and what we can wear to countless different events. I usually like to buy one proper "party" dress each season and then I can accessorise it in different ways to make really individual looks whilst not busting the budget. I've picked a few dresses from the Monsoon website which I think are equally timeless, elegant and sparkly(!) enough to see you through several party seasons with just the merest tweak of your accessories.
The showstopping feather trimmed number is such a beauty I just had to include it. You could wear it with nude courts to a cocktail event for a really stunning, chic look, or you could choose to make it more "fashion" with a pair of ankle boots and a boucle jacket. You wouldn't need to over accessorise this dress either, just a simple pair of earrings would set it off without fussing the shape.
For sheer decadence, you can't help but choose this stunning sequin encrusted gold pencil dress. The shape is so flattering, especially if you want to cover your arms and don't want anything too short (there's nothing worse than having to keep yanking your dress down of an evening!) I would wear this with either pointed courts and a leather jacket for a rock chic look, or a faux fur trimmed cape for a look that's pure Dr Zhivago.
My next choice is this super pretty, girlie tweedy dress which is shot with metallic thread. The beauty of this dress is that you could wear it to the office in the day, perhaps with a structured blouse underneath, and add sheer tights and a statement necklace for evening (lose the shirt and add a higher heel) and you have a really versatile, but super gorgeous dress that will look amazing dressed up or down.
My final pick is this adorable satin oriental inspired strapless dress. The colour is absolutely stunning and you often find with partywear that you're limited to gold, silver, black and cream. So it's lovely to see a beautiful flash of cobalt blue lifted with the shimmering metallic florals overlaid. It's high fashion but also really timeless and would always look divine with a simple heeled sandal and box clutch.
