So, the boy and I watched The Hurt Locker last night, which was amazing and very intense-you can see why it won Oscars! Then after that we turned over to find Walk The Line was on, this is one of my favourite films ever, it is sort of a biopic of Johnny Cash, and if you haven't seen it I suggest you do, even if you aren't a fan-it covers his addiction to prescription medication and also his falling in love with June Carter, played to perfection by Reese Witherspoon. I think this is probably her best ever role, well, for me it certainly is-she has an amazing fragility that she brings to the character whilst still portraying June as the feisty and incredibly strong woman that she was. She also has a lovely singing voice!
If for no other reason, you need to watch this film for the fashion. Set in the 1950's/1960's of America, the clothing is incredible and the attention to detail is just wonderful. I want all of Reeses wardrobe, it is all so beautiful...the one thing I love about past decades like the 1950's is that people really knew how to dress...even the casual looks were super glamourous and smart. I think we can learn a lot from this era, style-wise!
Anyway, this outfit was inspired by a scene in the film where June and her family pretty much lock Johnny in his home whilst he goes cold turkey from his drugs. You see his deliveryman turn up with a fresh batch and June's mum and dad chase him from the land with shotguns. June is wearing pegged slacks and a little cardigan with brogue shoes-so cute! The photo below shows how that has inspired my look, the picture above has my own spin on it to bring it back to the present. I am so annoyed as I have a supercute pair of woven wicker loafers that would have just finished this look perfectly....but can I find them!?! Nope!

So that was my inspiration for today! I hope you like the outfit. I'm off to a pub quiz tonight so I think some last minute cribbing is in order haha!
